James A. Zimmer 1934-2025

James was born Jan. 23, 1934, in Lorain, a son of the late Loy and Anna Zimmer.

He was a graduate of Vienna High School and worked as an electrician for IBEW Local 573.

He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Vienna, where he volunteered during the annual fish fry.

He was willing to help anyone who had electrical problems. He also enjoyed being outdoors, whether he was fishing, boating, camping or golfing.

James will be deeply missed by his children, Barbara (Aldo) Scarnecchia and Stephen (Andrea) Zimmer; grandchildren, Amy (Brian), Kevin and Sarah (Josh); three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Jean Martin and Janet Fleming.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Dorothy A. Zimmer, whom he married July 16, 1955; sons, Thomas, Richard, James and Michael Zimmer; grandson, Jonathan Scarnecchia; and special friend, Ella Kalas.

Family and friends may visit 10 to 11 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 4453 Warren-Sharon Road, Vienna.

Burial will take place in Vienna Township Cemetery.

James’ family would like to thank Continuing Healthcare at the Ridge and Shepherd of the Valley in Liberty for their good care for the past five years.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lane Funeral Homes-Madasz Chapel in Brookfield.
