Daniel E. Davis 1954-2024

He was born Feb. 12, 1954, in Warren, a son of the late Robert I. Davis and the late Ruth Ellen Sharlock Davis.

Dan graduated from Champion High School in 1973 and began working for Trumbull Industries in September of that year, where he worked for 43 years until his retirement in 2016. Dan also began a career as an EMT and firefighter in 1976, which was his true passion. He began as an EMT in 1976 at the former Action Ambulance of Warren and his fire service in 1977 in Warren Township. Desiring to raise their family back in Champion, Dan and Paula moved there in 1981, where Dan continued his EMS and firefighting career with the Champion Township Fire Department until his second retirement in 2022. Dan retired at the rank of assistant chief after 46 total years of service, 41 of which he spent serving the Champion community.

Dan was a member of Bazetta Christian Church, where he continued his calling to service as both a trustee and an elder. Though Dan’s calling to his Lord and his church came a bit later in life, he attacked it the same way he did everything else, with pride and no nonsense — a quiet man, a doer who just got the job done.

Dan is survived by his wife, Paula Suzanne Williams Davis, whom he married April 16, 1977; his sons, Daniel (Alex Elliot) Davis and Chad (Andrea) Davis; grandchildren, Brianne Davis, Jaden Davis, Jaelyn (Tyler) Lewis, Zachary (Maddie Skog) Nicolich, Grace Davis and Maddy Davis; great-grandsons, Brody and Benjamin Lewis; and the children of Alex, Elliot, Uriana, Naveen and Marco Elliot. He is also survived by siblings, Robert Davis, Len (Theresa) Davis and Lori (Jerry) Davis Utley; sister-in-law, Phyllis Williams Vandergrift; brother-in-law, Keith Williams; and several nieces and nephews.

Dan was preceded in death by both parents; his in-laws, Garth and Jean Williams; sister-in-law, Patty Williams Liebal; and granddaughter, Sierra Dawn Davis.

Memorial services for Dan will be 6 p.m., with calling hours 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, at Bazetta Christian Church, 4131 Bazetta Road, Cortland.
