Linda Nevel 1943-2024

Linda was born Jan. 14, 1943, in Youngstown, the daughter of William and Margaret Rees Warner.

Linda graduated in 1960 from Boardman High School and later began working as a teller for First National Bank. She worked her way up in management to Vice President of Human Resources at First National Bank, before retiring in 2000.

Linda was a former member of Girard First United Methodist Church, where she had served as the church treasurer, sang in the senior choir and served on various committees. She was a member of the Board of the YWCA of Youngstown, where she served as president of the board for two years. Linda enjoyed spending time at her Lake Erie cottage, reading and playing the piano.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Dr. Ronald A. Rhodes and his wife, Lynn of Girard; stepchildren, Bruce Nevel, Scott (Kim) Nevel, Keith Nevel and Jeanne (Bruce) Cofman; sisters, Judith (Larry) Elder of Poland, Cynthia (John) Phillips of Hubbard and Bonnie Vrabel of Washingtonville; brother, William (Kirsti) Warner of Nashville, Tennessee; grandsons, Ronald Rhodes Jr. and Patrick (Nicholette) Rhodes; seven stepgrandchildren; her great-granddaughter, Adaline; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Ray B. Nevel, whom she married April 3, 1976, and who died Nov. 18, 2018.

Family and friends may gather from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Blackstone Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Linda will be laid to rest in Lake Park Cemetery, next to her husband.

The family would like to thank the staff of Liberty Arms Assisted Living for making her a part of their family for the past 7 months.
