Linda M. Knapp 1952-2024

NILES — Linda Marie Knapp of Niles went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, at her home surrounded by family due to a battle with breast cancer.

She was born June 29, 1952, in Warren, the daughter of Gilbert Knapp and Ellen Sharkey.

Linda was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School. She was one of the first women to work at Republic / LTV Steel as an electrician. Most recently she worked at Home Depot where she was always at the top in sales.

Linda was always a woman of faith, loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was strong in her Christian beliefs. She practiced living her faith to reflect the Lord’s light to everyone she met.

She was an active member of St. Stephen Church in Niles serving as a member of the parish council and was a committee member for its main fundraisers. She was also an active member of the Niles Catholic Women’s Club. Always loving and caring of others, she helped raise money for her favorite charities: AFL / CIO Community Services, Niles Community Services, United Way, Gleaners Food Bank, Rebecca Williams House, Harvest for Hunger, American Heart Association and the Niles McKinley Band.

In her free time, Linda loved taking beautiful vacations with as many family members as possible to the ocean. She always ensured that family could join in her adventures and would provide a way for them when they didn’t have one.

Linda is survived by her beloved son, Jeremy (Lori) Knapp, along with her grandchildren, Alex, Sophie and Ben. She is also survived by her siblings, Richard (Cathy), Patrick (Susan), Brenda (Vince), David (Kimberly), Robert (Tom), and John (Tina). She took pride in being an aunt to Vickie (Jon), Dulcinea (Carlos), Heather (Corey), Jennifer, Mathew (Sze), Lindsey (Seth), Steven, Christopher, Nicholas, David (Jamie), Josh (Whitney), Katelin, Johnny and Dorthea; as well as three great-nieces and great-nephews, Maxwell, Maria and David. Additionally, Linda had a wonderful extended family, leaving many cousins, step siblings, close friends and coworkers that remained by her side.

Additionally, Linda is survived by her companion, Joseph Ring. She and Joe enjoyed attending church, riding bikes and watching game shows together.

She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Ellen and William Sharkey; father and stepmother, Gilbert and Mary Knapp; and two of her brothers, Gilbert and Nicholas.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, September 25, at the Holloway-Williams Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 611 Robbins Ave., Niles.
