YSU hosts Wall Street at Junior Achievement event

Youngstown State University’s Williamson College of Business Administration will host the Junior Achievement of Eastern Ohio Stock Market Challenge on Friday.

Ninety high school students in Trumbull, Mahoning, Columbiana and Ashtabula counties will participate in a simulation that turns Williamson into Wall Street.

Teams of students will practice buying and selling stocks while navigating events that can either positively or negatively impact the market, and the importance of a diversified portfolio.

Local business and community leaders will act as floor traders, working with the students to execute the trades. A total of 60 days of trading will take place, with each day lasting one minute.

Before the opening bell at 10:15 a.m., Peter Chen of the Lariccia School of Accounting and Finance will host a panel discussion for the participants. Trading will continue at 11:30 a.m. after a break.
