Dominion East Ohio's natural gas rate starting July 12 will rise from June, but the price remains near historic lows.
The utility company said Monday that the July rate will be $3.374 per 1,000 cubic feet of gas, or mcf.
The new rate is 34.5 cents higher than the June rate of $3.029, but it's $1.983, or 37 percent, less than the rate in July 2011.
The rate applies to choice-eligible customers who don't buy gas from an Energy Choice supplier or a government group.
Customers with a supplier or government group will continue to receive gas under terms of their contract.
