VIENNA - Demand from travelers in Pittsburgh and other areas outside the Mahoning Valley is prompting Allegiant Air to add two flights to its Myrtle Beach, S.C., schedule from the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport, officials said.
The flights were added June 21 and will continue through Aug. 9 to the existing two flights to the vacation and golfing resort, available Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays and Mondays. A flight on Sundays and Thursdays will continue after that date.
"Because the Pittsburgh and Akron-Canton airports do not offer regularly scheduled flights to Myrtle Beach, we are attracting passengers from more than 100 miles away," airport Director of Aviation Dan Dickten said.
Dickten said Allegiant sold 92 percent of the seats available on the first flight under the expanded schedule and sold every seat on one of this week's four flights.
