JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - Juan Romero homered for the third time in two games, but it was all offense the Mahoning Valley Scrappers would get as they fell, 3-1, to the Jamestown Jammers on Tuesday night.
Romero led off the third inning with a home run to center field to give the Scrappers a 1-0 lead. Mahoning Valley had just two other hits.
Aaron Siliga and Mitch Nilsson were the other Scrappers to reach on base hits, as Siliga singled in the first inning and Nilsson did likewise in the third.
In both situations the Scrappers were unable to bring the runner home.
The Jammers took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth as Sharif Othman singled home Kentrell Dewitt and Yefri Perez grounded out to shortstop to plate Brian Dice for what was the game-winning run.
Jamestown added an insurance run in the fifth as Scrappers reliever Rafael Homblert loaded the bases on three singles. With two outs, he then walked Rony Peralta to score Austin Nola.
The Scrappers will open their home schedule with a two-game series against the Jammers. The first pitch both tonight and Thursday night is 7:05.
