Spend time on those who want to learn

May 13, 2012

DEAR EDITOR:

Sadly enough, I feel our schools are in a losing battle. It appears we spend more time with the students who are fighting in place of the ones who come to learn and be respectful.

I do not see our test scores going up unless we stop spending so much time on all the nonsense. One student should not be allowed to disrupt 25 or more other students. But that is what is happening. I understand a child can't learn if they are not in school, but the rest of them can't learn if one or two keep causing trouble. It's like one bad apple ruins the whole bunch.

I have a plan that I think will work. It will take some time, but it will work. And I believe it will be good for everyone and help get our kids ready for the real world.

If a student is sent to ISI three times, he or she is then sent home for three days. After they return and are sent back to ISI, they are then sent home for 10 days. If after they return, and get sent to ISI again, they are sent home until they, with their parents, appear in court.

You would not get away with this behavior in the workplace, so why should you get away with it in school? We have wasted far too much time on the bad and spent far too less on the ones ready to learn. Let's put an end to this ongoing nonsense and save our kids. It is time to take control and help our kids .
