SOLES FOR SOULS COLLECTION: Fashion Bug stores will be collecting shoes at the store through 4 p.m. Saturday as part of the ''Soles for Souls'' effort, which will be also be marked with a collection from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Mollenkopf Stadium.
TRENT AFFAIR TO BE DISCUSSED: The Kinsman Historical Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. today at the Kinsman Presbyterian Church, Church Street, with guest speaker Harry Schoger of Cortland. The topic will be ''The Trent Affair,'' a naval incident of 1861. This incident could have led to war with England, an outcome that was narrowly averted. Refreshments will be served. GARDENING PROGRAM BEGINS: Local residents are being sought to help work in the gardens, with kickoff meetings being held at 6 p.m. today at Sherwood Community Garden and 11 a.m. Friday at Brentwood Community Garden. SPRINGTIME TO BE HELD AT GARDENS: The annual Springtime at the Garden will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Trumbull County Agricultural and Family Education Center, 520 W. Main St., Cortland. The event will include a plant sale, vendors and food.
STAMP SHOW MARKS 21ST YEAR: The Warren Area Stamp Club will hold its 21st annual spring show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the St. Demetrios Community Center, 3223 Atlantic St., Warren. Vendors will be buying and selling stamps. Admission is free.
DERBY FOR CHILDREN IN HUBBARD: The Hubbard Conservation Club, 1760 Wick Campbell Road, will host a kids fishing derby from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 12 for children 15 and younger. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
