YOUNGSTOWN - Steve Gergel, 84, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Hospice House following a lengthy illness.
Steve was born Aug. 15, 1927, in Youngstown, the son of Michael and Katherine Yaslik Gergel.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War, and retired from Hynes Steel. Steve was a member of Mahoning United Methodist Church in Youngstown.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Glosner Gergel; a son, Gary S. Gergel of Youngstown; a daughter, Diane C. Calkins of Chardon; a brother, Peter Gergel of Youngstown; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
A private graveside service will take place at a later date. There are no calling hours.
Arrangements are being handled by Kinnick Funeral Home.
