Scrap tire collection set for Cortland residents

CORTLAND - A scrap tire collection program will be held in the city through a grant from the Geauga Trumbull Solid Waste Management District.

Residents of Cortland can drop off up to eight scrap tires at the city's Service Garage, 184 Willow Drive, from 8 a.m. to noon May 5. There will also be a curbside pickup on May 9. Residents must have their tires placed at the curb the evening prior to pickup.

The dropoff service is limited to Cortland residents, and residents need to show verification of their residency.

The Geauga Trumbull Solid Waste Management District will not provide a collection date at its facility this year.

Tribune looking for your reasons to Relay

WARREN - As Valley residents prepare for local Relay For Life events this spring, the Tribune Chronicle would like to know your reason to Relay. It could be because of your own cancer diagnosis, or in support of a friend or a loved one, or just because you want to do your part in the fight against cancer.

Tribune Chronicle editors set for Johnston

JOHNSTON - The next stop in a yearlong series of gatherings to allow the public to meet the editors of the Tribune Chronicle is scheduled for 6 p.m. April 16 at Johnston Veterans of Foreign Wars post on state Route 5, Johnston.

Readers are invited to ask questions and make suggestions.

Scheduled to attend are Tribune Chronicle publisher Charles Jarvis; editor Frank Robinson; managing editor Guy Coviello; metro editor Brenda Linert; sports editor Ed Puskas; features editor Mary Beth Wyko; business editor Larry Ringler; entertainment editor Andy Gray; photo editor R. Michael Semple; assistant metro editor and ''Burt's Eye View'' humor columnist Burton Cole; sports reporter Mike McLain; and community news reporter Bob Coupland.

Light refreshments will be served. The monthly sessions are being coordinated as part of the Tribune Chronicle's bicentennial celebration.
