YOUNGSTOWN - A groundbreaking ceremony for the Rayen Stadium renovation project is scheduled for 1 p.m. today at the site of the former Rayen School, off Benita Avenue on the city's north side. Former Youngstown State and Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel, the campaign committe's co-chairman, is expected to speak during the ceremony.
Rev. Lewis Macklin, another co-chairman, also is set to make remarks. Several other community leaders are expected to be on hand to mark the start of construction. Supporters of the stadium renovation project can make donations online at www.rayenstadium.org.
Contributions by traditional mail also will be accepted accepted. Contributions may also be made by checks to the Rayen Stadium Renovation Fund mailed to Youngstown City School District, Rayen Stadium Renovation Fund, P.O. Box 550, Youngstown, OH 44501-0550.
