What life was like before the computer
As a society, we seem to have collectively accepted the fact that we are now almost wholly computer dependent. I am admitting that I am, for sure. I don’t know what I’d do without my computer. There are times I’d like to find out. When I bought my first computer in 1995, our kids were too young to experience the joys of dialing up AOL on a 14.4k modem. What blazing speed! We were amazed with the Windows 95 operating system. With a huge 1-gigabyte hard drive, I wondered how I would ever use that kind of computing capacity. I now have a 2GB flash drive in my pocket. It could have contained that computer’s entire capacity on a tiny chip. I’m all for technology and innovation, although, at times, I am as frustrated as anyone. I got inside the computer as soon as we got one. I immediately took the cover off so I could see what was on the inside. My wife knew I would do this because I could never get rid of things that don’t work anymore.
