Prevent Denman Tire from becoming another American tragedy
DEAR EDITOR: Is Denman Tire another American tragedy? As a current and evidently past employee of more than 25 years of this fine profitable business, I would like to share a couple thoughts. The employees of Denman are truly the typical hard-working American worker. People need to wake up if a situation like this has not hit them personally. I hope it won’t. But it might. We need to stick together as a community and ask ‘‘Why did this happen?’’ We recently had many interested buyers come to our doors showing interest in taking ownership of our almost 100-year-old company. We have more than $7 million in current orders. That’s a very attractive fact to potential owners. We have a huge customer base as well. Yet buyer after buyer was pushed or walked away somehow. As employees we were kept in the dark. We heard rumors, but we never knew the details. I guess it was none of our business. Yet Denman was and I hope still is our business.
