Local `X Factor’ auditions set

Aspiring singers will have a chance to jump to the front of the line and sing for producers of the FOX reality series “The X Factor.”

Coming to the Covelli Centre in Youngstown on April 27 is the X Factor Audition Pass Contest. Contestants will have a chance to audition privately from 3 to 5 p.m. that day, and those who qualify will sing on the main stage in semi-final and final rounds starting at 7 p.m. The public is invited to watch the semis and finals.

“The X Factor” has four categories – Boys, Girls, Over 30 and Vocal Groups. Individuals must be 12 years old as of Jan. 1, 2012, or older in order to audition. A winner in each catetgory in Youngstown will receive a guaranteed audition pass to sing for “X Factor” producers in Providence, R.I., on May 10. Winners also will receive deluxe hotel accommodations at the Providence Hilton and $200 for travel expenses.
